Donors list posted, and youth bios too

As we ramp up fundraising for the Fort Ward Community Hall project, we’ve posted our updated Donors List to acknowledge the families and individuals, community groups, and businesses that have contributed to the effort.

We’ll be updating the list regularly, to give ongoing recognition to those who give their time, enthusiasm, expertise and financial support to the project. (You’ll also get your name on a plaque inside the building at the end — but why wait?)

Individual donors are encouraged to spread the word about our effort to give south Bainbridge its first-ever community hall in the fort’s historic bakery building. Please share the link with friends and neighbors, and ask them to join the campaign with a pledge.

Also just posted: profiles of our Fort Ward Youth Advisory Board members. Many of you have seen the team in action as they’ve given presentations at Bainbridge Rotary, at the recent wine-and-cheese social, and in local schools. Now meet these young leaders and hear them discuss the community hall project and their connections to the Fort Ward neighborhood, in their own words.

  1. Here are the pictures and notes I received from the daughter of a Ford Ward sailor whose family rented our South Beach house in 1950. It contains her contact information.

We will be at our South Beach house this Thursday and Friday (July 17 and 17) if somebody wants to meet with me to discuss what I know about Fort Ward.

  2. Thank you for sharing your time and energy, Erik, Mark, Aila, Kate and of course Sarah, Doug, Stephanie and countless others! We had an incredible morning with you in the Spring, learning about the scarcely known wartime role of Fort Ward with respect to intercepting encrypted Morse code messages. We’re embracing that history as we tackle interesting projects this summer, like learning Morse Code. Thank you and very best wishes!!! We’re behind you 100%!
